Gregorian Treasures
Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square
Saturday April 26th, 8pm
Gregorian Treasures is a unique concert experience that comes to the UK after a run of sold-out performances in the Netherlands. Performed by leading Dutch vocal ensemble Wishful Singing, and the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble, it brings together more than 10 centuries of music, from the ancient melodies of Gregorian chant to music written by composers right up to the present day who have been inspired by this ancient music. Bringing together music, movement, and light, it is an immersive and unforgettable evening.
Wishful Singing is a leading all-female vocal ensemble from the Netherlands performing a broad repertoire ranging from early music, folk, close harmony, and contemporary music. The ensemble regularly performs at Dutch concert halls like the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and also internationally in Europe, North America, and Asia. The group has generated a new buzz around Gregorian chant in the Netherlands. Wishful Singing’s performances of Gregorian repertoire have attracted over 15,000 attendees, while their online courses engaged more than 6,500 participants.
The VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble is a vocal group of young professional singers who have previously been part of the VOCES8 Scholars programme, and includes Tenor Joe Hancock, who sang with ECS in performances of ‘Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast’ and ‘St Nicolas’ in 2024. Their work in 2025 includes concerts across the UK, France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. For VOCES8 Records they will record an album of music of Mårten Jansson with the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet.
